Highlights were first believed to have been used in Ancient Greece in 4 B.C.; apparently throughout history just like today, having beautiful hair was a necessity!!!!Fast Forward to the 1980’s, highlights were the hottest hair trend. It’s A Wrap by Rayson wanted to create something different and stand out in the beauty industry, so Hi-Lite Wraps were introduced to the mainstream in the 1980’s. Hi- Lite Wraps are transparent paper used to process hair during highlights. The transparent paper is lighter and more flexible than foils, which helps cut time preparation in half! As the hair is processed, the color will appear through the paper, so there is no need to unwrap to check on the color process. Similar to foils, Hi-Lite Wraps allow the stylist to be able to place highlights wherever they want on the hair. The 80’s were also a time when we were introduced to low lights, frosting and chunking. These techniques increased the popularity and usage of Hi-Lite Wraps.
